SPOTLIGHT: Barb Nadeau

GETTING TO KNOW: Barb Nadeau

Your Senior Center & Meals on Wheels Cook

Barb started cooking when she was 12 years old.  She learned by watching her mom, who Barb said was a great cook and never owned a cookbook.

Her first dish she made by herself was soup, then her next food endeavor was making eggs as many ways she could imagine. She likes working with all foods but stated it’s amazing what you can do with meat.

Barb started working at a restaurant at age 16, so she has been working in the food industry for many years.  She particularly liked doing big events so when this job opportunity at the Senior Center came around, she figured it would be a good fit for her.

Part of her job is making the monthly menu, following the guidelines of the State. She stated that it “requires some creativity” to complete the menu which takes three days.

One of the best things Barb likes about this job, besides cooking the meals, is visiting with the people and seeing their smiles.   It makes her day.
